Frustrations: Part Deux

If I was frustrated yesterday, Imagine the rage I feel today. So its
deadline. I wait and wait and expect things to be dropped off at around
noon. I was right. Though there were some who were really annoying and
tried to extend the deadline only to fucking pass a paper that wasnt
worth my time. I wanted to cry.

I think these people just assumed the following:

1. If I pass my portfolio and my final, I will pass this course.
2.If I am nice to Maia, she will help me pass this course.
3. If I am nice to Sunny, he will ask Maia to help me pass this course.
4. If I beg, I will pass this course.
5. Maia is nice, she is a student she will pass us all.

Ummm…. person who believes this, I am disappointed to say that only
some of them are partially true, while the others are WRONG beyond the
shadow of a doubt.

For #1 - . If I pass my portfolio and my final, I will pass this course.
If you pass your portfolio, you will surely have recorded
grades for the assignments and things you’ve done but it is not an
assurance you will pass this course.

#2 - If I am nice to Maia, she will help me pass this course.
partially true, i help people who are nice to me and good to themselves by working for their grade.

#3 . If I am nice to Sunny, he will ask Maia to help me pass this course.
BWAHAHAHAH! Sunny does not care.

4. If I beg, I will pass this course.
Maybe, depends on what type of begging…. how much do you plead?
But seriously no matter how much you beg, if the record says you fail
you fail.  I could probably primp it up a bit but thats about it.

5. Maia is nice, she is a student she will pass us all.

I am unbiased. I dont want to be unfair to those who really did their work well. So… THIS IS A FALSE.

So, there. I am frustrated with people right now and want to kill
things. Unfortunately, I am a really strict professor. Stricter than my
actual professor. They say I am a terror professor because I am too
strict. If so I am proud, there is serious change needed in this
college.

I am tired my brain died from stupid essay answers and assignments my
favorite one came from Carlos Sampilo who gave me the front page of a
website ( complete with DOWNLOAD NOW, BUY NOW and REGISTER buttons) as
part of his assignment for types of business organizations.

Yeah.

uh.

Yeh.

Im going to bed. I am honestly glad this week is over

on the culture of mediocrity

My favorite professor for three classes got hospitalized and could not come to the college and so she called me and asked me a big favor. I was to handle some of her classes and ask them submit the final requirements for her classes and I get to GRADE them and RECORD their class standing. The Professor gets the excel file to do the final grades though, but of course. I hold a special part in the grading process.

What I discovered that I hate in this school is that the level of MEDIOCRITY in the college is EXTREMELY HIGH. I mean, I looked at the teacher’s class record and barely anyone passed anything. Then of course they do everything last minute in hopes of passing the subject. It is something against my principle to condone to something that is so unacceptably lazy and unproductive.

I hate Mediocrity. There. I said it. I HATE MEDIOCRITY. The college that I am in has a culture of mediocrity and I hate it. Maybe because the teachers allow it. Maybe because the teachers aren’t paid that well or the students just do not want to study. Either way, there is an existing culture of "Pwede na" in this college and I hate it.  I entered the college planning to excel and find excellent students to confer with. But, I found almost none. If there are any, they have been corrupted and disillusioned by the EAC Culture of Mediocrity.

I keep saying this word. But I bet, some neanderthals that read this will not know what it means so let me define the word for you. IN MY TERMS. Mediocrity is the state of being satisfied with substandard quality. It is the filipino notion of "Pwede na." That just does things to pass through the standard and is contented with just being ordinary or so-so.

That irritates me because there is so much potential with each person that I see untapped. EAC students arent all stupid. Just lazy. GAH. It annoys me. Are they satisfied with that kind of life?  What kind of future do they want for themselves? Do they think they can have a good life if they screw up in college?

I have been to the real world, and I should be the one disillusioned. But it amazes me how disillusioned these kids are and theyre not even 25!! They havent even experienced quarterlife crisis! WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE WORLD?!

At least, I have met some people who I know will make it… All I am wishing for is a miracle to change these people and finish the revolution I have started.

STRESSBUSTERS

Ever have those days you just want to pull your hair out, scream, run around and cry AND laugh at the same time? Then, what you want to do next, is to lie down on the couch watching God-knows-what on Animal Planet and eating a tub of ice cream to forget about that oh so important thing you’re not doing. Well, I am having that kind of day right now.  But I am not sitting in front of Animal Planet and eating Ice cream ( I am eating nerds and watching Kurosagi — watch it!!) …. but you get my drift…

that, my friend, is STRESS. One word that I can say describes my me right now, and probably most of the people on my friends list. And i admit that i am not one pretty picture when I am stressed.  i admit to looking like a cross of a witch from WICKED and Cruella De Ville..But, do not despair, so I scoured the net for some tips and will add my own quirky version of stress busters:

Here are 8 tips I found on the net

  1. Watch for the next instance in which you find yourself becoming annoyed or
angry at something trivial or unimportant. Then practice letting go, making a
conscious choice not to become angry or upset. Do not allow yourself to waste
thought and energy where it isn’t deserved. Effective anger management is a
tried-and-true stress reducer. << I should do this more often and not lash out at people. I have that evil temper ( Like Ryo-chan) when I am stressed. Come to think about it, maybe that’s why BOSS CHAN is so crabby…
  1. Breathe slowly and deeply. Before reacting to the next stressful
occurrence, take three deep breaths and release them slowly. If you have a few
minutes, try out a relaxation technique such as
meditation or guided imagery. << Think JE… ^_^
  1. Whenever you feel overwhelmed by stress, practice speaking more slowly
    than usual.
    You’ll find
that you think more clearly and react more reasonably to stressful situations.
Stressed people tend to speak fast and breathlessly; by slowing down your
speech you’ll also appear less anxious and more in control of
    any situation.
  1. Jump-start an effective time management strategy. Choose one simple thing
you have been putting off (e.g., returning a phone call, making a doctor’s
appointment), and do it immediately. Just taking care of one nagging
responsibility can be energizing and can improve your attitude.
  1. Get outdoors for a brief break. Our grandparents were right about the
healing power of fresh air. Don’t be deterred by foul weather or a full
schedule. Even five minutes on a balcony or terrace can be rejuvenating.
  1. Drink plenty of water and eat small, nutritious snacks. Hunger and dehydration, even before you’re aware
of them, can provoke aggressiveness and exacerbate feelings of anxiety and stress. << uh huh… and it helps dieting too
  1. Do a quick posture check.
Hold your head and shoulders upright and avoid stooping or slumping. Bad
posture can lead to muscle tension, pain, and
increased stress. If you’re stuck at a desk most of the day, avoid
    repetitive
    strain injuries
and sore muscles by making sure your
    workstation reflects good
    ergonomic design principles.
    Take our Workstation Quiz
to find out how to make your workstation more ergonomically safe.
  1. Plan something rewarding for the end of your stressful day, even if only a
relaxing bath or half an hour with a good book. Put aside work, housekeeping or
family concerns for a brief period before bedtime and allow yourself to fully
relax. Don’t spend this time planning tomorrow’s schedule or doing chores you
didn’t get around to during the day. Remember that you need time to recharge and
energize yourself. You’ll be much better prepared to face another stressful day.

Now here’s a bit of mine:

  1. Whenever I am stressed I try singing. Singing releases happy things in me that other things dont. Plus it is a proven fact that singing relaxes the body. ^_^ try it
  2. Keep a diary nearby or BLOG. blogging about it or writing about it can keep things in perspective for you and you dont get to lash out at people.
  3. I look in the mirror and pamper myself. If I look in the mirror and see someone ugly and stressed. i get stressed a lot more, so you know, pampering can relieve a bit of tension plus you look better!! Remember LOOK BEAUTIFUL, FEEL BEAUTIFUL, WORK BEAUTIFULLY! it works girls! Try it

So there you have it. I hope it helps. As it does help me… ^^ GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
